In the latest promo of a new show, Karan Johar shared that today what you call ‘gay,’ ‘fag’ or ‘homo’… said in a derogatory tone. The filmmaker added that it was called ‘Pansy’ in those days, and it was a word that had really pushed him into a shell.
Earlier also, on Arbaaz Khan’s show, Karan shared how he had a problem with people making the ‘gay’ word sound ‘bad’. Karan went on to say that it is his prerogative to talk about his life, his sexuality, his orientation.
According to him, there is a level of homophobia and that really bothers him because that to him is sick. “I mean you can talk about what you think my sexuality is, that is your prerogative, but if you are commenting and making gay sound bad that’s when I have a problem because that means you have a sick mind, an uninformed mind, and an uneducated thought process,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan made his directorial comeback with ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ after seven years. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. It’s still running in theatres and has earned over Rs 300 crore worldwide.
