Bundaberg Regional Council’s Be Active Be Alive free fitness sessions return for Spring this Monday.
Held throughout the Bundaberg Region the program delivers a wide range of activities to suit all skill sets, fitness levels and interests.
Bundaberg Regional Council Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Vince Habermann said the Be Active Be Alive program was always well received by the community.
“It’s been great to see the 2023 program attended by community members enjoying our fantastic facilities, parks and fitness providers,” Cr Habermann said.
“Be Active Be Alive is the perfect opportunity for people to get involved and kickstart their fitness and health goals.”
A new fun fitness experience offered this term is line dancing with the Childers Country Line Dancers.
Facilitator Lorrae Goding said Be Active Be Alive was a brilliant program, in which the Childers Country Line Dancers were eager to be a part of.
“If you have done the Nutbush, the Chicken Dance or the Macarena you have technically line danced,” Lorrae said.
“I love dancing and I think it’s one of the best activities you can do for your mind and body.
“We are offering lessons to people who haven’t line danced before and will have them dancing by the end of the session.
“If you can count to four, we can teach you how to line dance.”
Combining the elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, Pickleball the paddle sport is also making a comeback to the program.
The popular water fitness and aerobics sessions will also make a return just in time for the warmer weather during Be Active Be Alive.
About the program
Launched by Bundaberg Regional Council in 2012, the award-winning Be Active Be Alive program began with the support of State Government funding.
Council continues to deliver the program of free exercise activities, refined under Council’s ‘Healthy and Active’ charter to provide an inclusive mix of activities across the region’s parks, pools and open spaces.
Fitness class types are dependent on fitness provider registrations.
Term 4 2023 runs from Monday 16 October to Saturday 9 December.
