Eventually, she started gymming and bagged a supporting role in her debut film, ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl.’
Highlighting how the purpose of working out should not just be weight loss, but rather being fit, Parineeti commented, “I started doing kalaripayattu with a trainer who would come home. It’s a martial art form and all it requires is an empty room. Once I lost weight, I started going to the gym again because now I feel like it. My workouts are more focused now. I want to achieve a particular shape and tone-specific muscles. It’s fun. You feel so much better about yourself and when people react, you feel even better.”

Speaking more about her exercise routine, she shared that she relies heavily on cardio. At the time when she was in pursuit of losing weight, she used to follow this routine:
- Jogging every day for one hour.
- Followed by an hour of meditation and yoga.
- Light weight lifting every day.
- Occasional swimming and horse riding.

When Parineeti embarked on her weight loss journey, the first step she took was to give up junk food completely for healthy and protein-rich foods. Here is a detailed look at her daily diet at the time, which restricted her from consuming foods that have a high quantity of carbs, fats, or sugar:
- Pre- Breakfast: She started her day with lemon juice mixed with warm water, and consumed it on an empty stomach every day.
- Breakfast: Next, she would eat brown bread with butter and two egg whites, and pair it with one glass of milk or juice.
- Lunch: For lunch, Parineeti Chopra indulged in brown rice with dal and roti, green leafy vegetables, and a light salad.
- Evening: For an evening snack, she would keep it light and drink a cup of green tea or fat-free yoghurt.
- Dinner: Her last meal of the day included fibre-rich food such as roti and abundant pulses. She would eat it with a low quantity of oil, along with a lot of greens and a glass of milk.
The beloved actress made it a point to eat her dinner at least two hours before going to bed.
“It would have been really easy for me to starve myself and eat bland food to lose weight. But I can’t do that forever, my attention span is very short. What I’m doing now is more long-term. Now I know which foods suit me and which ones are harder to digest. I plan my meals accordingly. People ask me what I’ve given up and the answer is nothing, I eat everything but I know how to balance it out now,” she shared with Elle magazine.
