Men too vulnerable to breast cancer: Doctors
Three cases of male breast cancer were detected at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) between 2020 and 2022, while 117 women were diagnosed with breast cancer during the same period. Male breast cancer cases are typically detected at advanced ages from 50 years onward, while females are diagnosed mostly in the age group of 30-40 years. The State Cancer Institute has detected 11 cases of male breast cancer since September last year, compared to 578 cases in women. While male breast cancer cases in Bihar are low, other types of cancer such as oral, lung, and blood cancers are common among men in the state. It is important to lead an active lifestyle and maintain weight to prevent male breast cancer.
