The majority of voters think the government is failing on mental health, with the issue set to become a key theme at the next general election.
A poll found only one in five people believed that NHS mental care services were performing well, and a large majority blamed the government for poor provision.
Two in five said that parties’ plans for mental health provision would shape their voting plans at the next election, with red-wall voters particularly likely to do so.
The research was carried out by the think tank More in Common for the charity Rethink Mental Illness.
