A pitbull-loving fitness fanatic accused of operating a large-scale drug operation from her home complained when a competitor ripped-off her designer drug labels, a court has heard. 

Karlie Cook, 39, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday where she pleaded guilty to 10 charges, including trafficking a commercial quantity of ecstasy and weapons offences.

The plea followed a deal with Victorian prosecutors, who agreed to withdraw a swag of other charges.

Daily Mail Australia was refused access to a revised summary of agreed facts Cook will be sentenced over when the matter reaches the County Court of Victoria next year. 

Now sporting brunette locks, Cook entered her guilty plea via video link from within her high profile barrister Philip Dunn, KC’s office. 

She had initially been refused bail and jailed amid concerns she posed a risk to the community. 

During that bail hearing last year, the court heard Cook’s alleged dealing of Xanax – a potent tranquilizer – had allowed her to display her creative flair for the illicit drug trade. 

Police allegedly seized testosterone, MDMA and 20kg of Xanax from her home, the Herald Sun reported then. 

Upon seizing Cook’s phone following her arrest in July last year, detectives found an assortment of messages related to her alleged offending. 

In one message to her friend, Cook allegedly moaned that ‘somebody had stolen her design of Xanax labels’.

Police believe the Xanax had been manufactured and pressed inside a bedroom at her home.

A treasure trove of illicit booty was allegedly confiscated by police in the raid, including 1,4 Butanediol, a stun gun, crossbow and arrow, pill press and a cash counter.

A clandestine drug lab had allegedly been set up inside Cook’s home, which was littered with various liquids, tablets and pills, canisters, vials, empty bottles, labels, a label maker, cash and bottles investigators believed contained steroids.

The court heard Cook’s boyfriend wanted nothing to do with her alleged drug dealing, telling police she had routinely had packages delivered to his house.

Cook had previously worked as an bookkeeper and ran her own beauty business before allegedly turning to crime.

Police told the court Cook’s sole income now came from the manufacturing of drugs. 

At a hearing last year, Echo Taskforce detective Senior Constable Alexandra Kapetanovski said Cook used fake IDs to mask her alleged drug activity. 

‘(Cook) is clearly manufacturing drugs of dependence and steroids on a large scale and further trafficking the drugs in which she’s created her own label designs and subsequently labelled them for sale,’ she said.
