Bollywood queen, Sridevi needs no introduction. The actress won millions of hearts with her incomparable acting chops and divine beauty. Right from her debut as a child artist in the 1967 Tamil film, Kandhan to her last film, Mom, Sridevi ruled the entertainment world with her jaw-dropping acting talents. However, it was February 24, 2018, when the diva left her entire fanbase heartbroken as she bid farewell to the world. For the unversed, it was discovered that the actress died in a Dubai hotel bathroom, and the autopsy report called it an ‘accidental drowning’ in the bathtub. However, Sridevi’s husband, Boney Kapoor, who maintained his silence over this tragic incident, recently opened up about the same.
Boney Kapoor reveals why he kept his silence on his wife Sridevi’s accidental demise
In an interview with The New Indian, Boney Kapoor shared that his wife, Sridevi’s demise was not a natural death and it was accidental. Talking about why he chose to remain silent on this incident, Boney Kapoor shared:
“It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media. And they discovered there was no foul play. I went through all the tests, including lie detector tests and all those things. And then, of course, the report which came clearly stated it was accidental.”

Boney Kapoor reveals that Sridevi used to follow a strict diet, and it led her to face blackouts on several occasions
In the same interview, Boney Kapoor made some shocking claims and stated that during the time of her death, Sridevi was on a strict diet, and she often used to starve. Talking more about the same, Boney mentioned that the late actress wanted to make sure that she was in shape to look good on screen.
The filmmaker added that right from the time Sridevi got married to him, she had a lot of blackouts, and doctors kept on saying that the actress had low BP issues. Boney also mentioned that he was aware of Sridevi’s strict diet and urged their doctors to advise the actress to include some salt in her diet, but the diva would request salt-free dishes. Elaborating more on the same, Boney stated:
“She often used to starve; she wanted to look good. She wanted to make sure she’s in good shape, so that on-screen, she looks good. From the time she was married to me, she had blackouts on a couple of occasions, and the doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue. Unfortunately, she didn’t take this seriously, and she also thought maybe it can’t be this serious until the incident happened.”
Boney Kapoor shared that Sridevi had faced the same incident as Dubai before
Further, in the interview, Boney Kapoor talked about another incident and stated that he later came to know that Sridevi had gone through a similar type of incident that took her life in Dubai. Sharing the details about the same, Boney said Nagarjuna told him that during one of her shoots for a film, Sridevi fainted in the bathroom and broke her teeth, and again during that time, she was on a strict diet. Boney Kapoor revealed:
“It was unfortunate. Later when she passed away. Nagarjuna had come home to offer his condolences, and he told me that during one of her movies, she was again on a crash diet, and that’s how she fell in the bathroom and broke her teeth.”

When Boney Kapoor revealed that he was about to break a promise that he made to his wife
Earlier, on his appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, Boney Kapoor shared that he got the urge to smoke cigarettes after the death of his wife, Sridevi, in Dubai. For those who don’t know, Boney had left cigarettes long back in 1995 at the behest of his ladylove, Sridevi. But after Sridevi’s demise, he felt like smoking again out of his anxiety and tension. However, he further mentioned that he neither broke his promise nor did he feel the urge to touch a cigarette ever again.
