Doctors said in cases where a person has collapsed suddenly, giving CPR in the right manner can increase survival chances by two times.
“If a person, who has suffered a heart attack receives CPR within the golden hour of 60 minutes, it can double the chances of his/her survival. Of late stress has been seen as an underlying factor increasing cases of heart attack besides smoking that leads to inflammation in the arteries and leaves cracks in them,” Dr Purshotam Lal, an interventional cardiologist and chairman at Metro Hospital in Noida, said.
On September 16, a 19-year-old man died while working out on a treadmill in a gym in Ghaziabad’s Khoda area. He has been working out in the gym for the last six months.
The UP bodybuilding and fitness association’s Greater Noida wing claimed heart check-ups must be regular for even players who lead an active life. “It’s a competitive world for professional bodybuilders and often to get good results, they take supplements. It is important to have specific knowledge of the contents of the supplements they take. In the case of steroids, it must be thoroughly checked by an expert. We advise our members to not overlook body signs to prevent such random collapse,” Anish Ahmad, from the association, said.
Ambuj Kumar, a trainer at a local gym in Noida, said, “Trainers who have undergone rigorous courses and practical experience to assess the condition of any person who comes to the gymnasium to exercise. However, several habits and mental conditions of the clients remain unknown. Most of the gyms do not have any machines to revive a person who suffers a heart attack but with more awareness, CPR training will become a mandatory practice.”
