NORRISTOWN — Mental health services topped the list of authorized contracts at the most recent Montgomery County Commissioners meeting.
Commissioners unanimously approved a $1,012,514 agreement with Access Services Inc., of Fort Washington, for mobile mental health crisis services.
The scope of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services’ request for proposals encompassed a need for “coordinated crisis response inclusive of prevention, intervention and linkage/referral in order to support individuals and families.”
The Fort Washington-based nonprofit was the sole respondent and endorsed by the county agency. While the $1.01 million covers services for one year, the agreement includes stipulations for four optional annual renewal terms.
Also included in the package of more than a dozen contracts, totaling more than $2.5 million, was a $311,920 agreement with Flyway Excavating Inc., of Mount Joy, for dredging at Green Lane Park in Green Lane.
The Lancaster County-based firm was one of two to submit bids to a previously advertised request for proposals. Flyway Excavating Inc. was endorsed by the Montgomery County Department of Assets and Infrastructure’s division of parks, trails and historic sites.
A previously authorized management services contract with JBC Associates, Inc., of King of Prussia, required another $364,455 for work related to the ongoing Ridge Pike Improvement Project.
The work involves the project’s Section D, from Crescent Avenue to Northwestern Avenue to the Philadelphia city line, from Springfield and Whitemarsh townships to Philadelphia.
The premier contract was awarded for $341,724.25, but the Aug. 17 contract cited “additional project management hours required for scheduling delays due to utility company redesigns and supply chain delays” as reasons for the increase in needed funds.
The revised contract total now stands at $706,179.25.
Additionally, another $485,758 was designated to Oliver Fire Protection & Security, of King of Prussia, for work at the county archives building.
Still under construction, county officials required further fire protection services at the county’s Emergency Operating Center campus in Eagleville.
The contract states need for a “fire suppression system … be required due to insufficient water flow at the site, repairs required after investigative work was performed to determine the reason for the insufficient water flow to the Archives building and the installation of a temporary fire pump required until the permanent pump arrives.”
Montgomery County Commissioners’ Chairman Ken Lawrence Jr. moved to approve the contract amendment, which Montgomery County Commissioners’ Vice Chairwoman Jamila Winder seconded. It passed 2-1 with Commissioner Joe Gale voting no.
“I opposed the original contract, and will remain consistent by opposing this contract amendment as well due to high capital costs,” said Gale.
The next Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sept. 7 on the eighth floor of One Montgomery Plaza, 425 Swede St., in Norristown.
